Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

Duration: 2 days 08h00 to 16h30 (1 hour lunch)
Summary: A course for employees who are required to undertake continuous hazard identification and risk assessment in the workplace. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skill to be able to identify and assess work related hazards and undertake continuous HIRA activities. Learners will be empowered to assess work related hazards and risks in order to identify, implement and evaluate effective methods of control into the situation.
Accreditation: Amokoro Training is CETA accredited against unit standard 120330 Conduct a continuous risk assessment in a workplace NQF level 03. SAIOSH accredited for two CPD points.
Content: Hazard identification and risk assessment

  1. Explain the specified requirements pertaining to continuous hazard identification and risk assessment.
  2. Prepare for hazard identification.
  3. Identify hazards and assess risks.
  4. Describe and apply HIRA techniques to be used in the workplace.
  5. Initiate remedial and follow-up action.
Entry requirements: ABET level 4 (Basic reading, writing and arithmetic). Medium of instruction and training materials are in English..
Min/max number of learners Minimum: 8 learners per course

Maximum: 25 learners per course

Who Should Attend: Management and supervisors.

SHE practitioners and SHE representatives.

All staff required to undertake continual hazard identification and risk assessment in the workplace.
