Portable Skills: Basic Electrical

Duration: 20 full days or 40 half days
Summary: Our portable skills are designed to offer the learner the opportunity to gain skills which they do not currently have, to be able to gain entry into an industry/sector they are currently not working in. Basic electrical training covers entry level skills into electrical fields in construction.
Content: Modules:

  1. Understand fundamentals of electricity

1.1  Explain the basic concepts of electricity

1.2  Explain magnetic theory.

1.3  Explain the basic fundamentals of power generation and distribution

1.4  Apply and explain electrical units and symbols.

1.5  Draw and interpret series, parallel and series-parallel DC resistive circuits and calculate variables.

  1. Design and install electrical wire ways

2.1  Plan to install electrical wire ways

2.2  Prepare to install electrical wire ways

2.3  Install electrical wire ways.

2.4  Complete the installation of wire ways

Entry requirements: ABET level 4 (Basic reading, writing and arithmetic). Communication, science, literacy and mathematical skills at NQF Level 1.

Medium of instruction and training materials are in English.

Minimum course duration 20 days theoretical and practical training.

Min/max number of learners Minimum: 12 learners per course

Maximum: 18 learners per course
